Corona Virus

The news is about Corona Virus. Its killing a lot of people along the world. It might get here soon. It makes me think about the end of the world.

   

      Corona Virus is the first virus of the century. Fourteen countries in the has Corona Virus. 75,000 People in Wuhan,China are under investigated. 425 People died from Corona Virus in China. There is  lot of people dying from corona virus in some countries that are close to China. A US Citizen Became the first foreigner to die of illness in China on February 6 while two deaths have been recorded elsewhere one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines.

      The news interest me because a lot of people are dying.

In the scene where PK and Gideon Duma is running we see the aspect of Long Shot. We see the long queue of the toilet. The purpose of this was to see how many people are there in the long queue and the director used Long shot. It makes the audience feel sad for the people that are waiting for the long queue of the toilet. It also makes the audience shocked because there is only one toilet for 200 people.This is important because it teaches us about history, and it tells us what have they been through. 

In the scene we also see the aspect of Mid Shot.We see this when Pk and Gideon Duma is Drinking water in the tap. The one tap says “Whites only” and the other one says “Non whites only”. The director wants us to think about the waterfall in the following scene. The director is also showing us that white and black people were not treated equally.It  makes the audience feel sad to what they see above the tap water. This teaches us that if white and black people go together it's Illegal during that time.

What am i proud of?

- I'm proud to what I've done because i tried my best even though i only write two paragraph.

What can i do to improve next time?

-I think the thing i can improve next time is more focus and not being lazy.

Drill Gauge project

 I have 8 holes in it; 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.8, 8, 10. I accidentally made a mistake with my 5 and 5.5 hole, i dont have 5.5 but they're both 5. I also use Micrometer and Vernier to measure my drill bit, and i am more comfortable using Micrometer, i find Micrometer hard because i dont know where can i see the size.


Micrometer has a Ratchet, Lock knot, Sleeve Thimble, Knurled Grip, C Frame , Spindle, Anvil and etc.

Vernier Caliper has a Main scale, Depth Rod, Thumb screw, Vernier scale, Lower Jaws for outside measurement, Upper jaws for inside measurement, and Etc.

Press Drill has Chuck, Adjustable table, Safety guard, Pilot Wheel, Column and Etc.

Making Salts 2

Aim: To produce copper sulfate salt by reacting copper oxide with and acid

Method
1.Add 20ml of sulfuric acid to a 100ml Beaker. Heat the acid until it reaches 70°c. Turn off your bunsen burner.

2.Once heated, use a spatula to add pea-sized portions or copper oxide to the basket. Stir the mixture for 30 seconds.

3. Repeat step 2 until no more will dissolve. Allow the Beaker to cool.

4.Fold the filter paper and place it in the funnel. Place the filter funnel into the second Beaker.

5. Make sure the Beaker is cool enough to hold at the top. The contents should still be hot.

6.Gently swirl the contents of the Beaker to mix, and then pour into the filter paper in the funnel. Allow to filter through.

7. Rinse the Beaker you used to heat the mixture previously, and place it back on top of your tripod filled with 50-60ml of water. 

8.Place the evaporating basin on top of the Beaker and carefully pour some of the solution from the Beaker into the evaporating basin.

9. Gently heat the Beaker until the solution in the evaporating basin has reduced by half.

10. leave the evaporating basin to cool. Once cool, move the evaporating  basin to a warm place where it will no be disturbed (I.e a window-sill) and observe over the next few days. Blue copper sulfate crystals should form.

Making Indicators

Aim: To make acid-base indicators using everyday substances. Method for Beetroot 1. Chop The beetroot into small pieces until you have enough to fill 2 cubs 2. Place beetroot in a large beaker and add water to cover it 3. Boil over a Bunsen burner for at least ten min for colour out of the cabbage 4. Filter out the plant material to obtain a red-purple-bluish coloured liquid. This liquid is at about pH 7 5. Place in a small beaker and leave to one side Equipment: Beetroot, a beaker, water, tripod, Bunsen burner, Gansen mat, Results Acid Base Beetroot Yellow Yellow Cabbage Red, pink Green Tea Yellow Yellow Tumeric Yellow Red Cranberry Yellow Green Discussion: We went through the process of adding different chemicals to our everyday substance indicators and each chemical changed to show us if it was a strong base, weak base or strong acid and weak acid by colour changing. Conclusion: We made our indicators to show what chemicals are acids and bases. I think that beetroot worked better.

DNA extraction (Science)

Aim -
-Our aim is to successfully extract DNA from the Kiwi Fruit

Method -
-Using Spatula, Scoop, 1/2 kiwifruit into and bag. Add 25ml Water + a pinch of salt
-Mush until a thick soup
-Pour over cloth into funnel into beaker.
-Pour liquid into test tube. Add dish washing liquid + swirl. Allow to sit for 5 mins.
-Tilt test tube on liquid on 45 degree angle and slowly pour 10ml of ethanol down the side.
-Allow to sit.

Results-
- When we add ethanol it started to separate it.



Discussion-
-Water helped break kiwifruit apart.
-Salt help climb the DNA
-Ethanol helped to see it as it sits on top



Conclusion- We successfully extracted DNA from the kiwi fruit

Child slavery Paragraph

Child Slavery is still happening even in modern times, There are still a large percentage  of people that are still in Child Slavery. A lot of children are kidnapped and forced to do all labor works. Labor works are Carpet making, Brick making and mining. Their rights were taken away as they don't have choice. For example the human rights that they have had taken from them are Freedom and Access to education. Most of these slaves pay their dept to the Money-lenders, they work all day, every day, and they don't get paid fairly. The Children were kidnapped and do work as they told to do like Carpet making, Brick making and Mining and they lose their human rights such as Freedom and Access to Education.

In Social Studies, we've been learning about Modern Child Labour in different countries, and there is a lot of differences in each and every country like; Carpet making, Mining, Brick making and Mining.

Here is my map and my map shows all the places where child labor happens and when you click on the pins some information pops up saying how much children were used and where the children worked in.

Summer at Vostok Station in Antarctica is still plenty cold, but winter atop the East Antarctic Plateau is as cold as it gets on Earth. Scientists already knew that the lowest temperatures ever measured on Earth were on a frozen ice ridge in eastern Antarctica, near the South Pole
There are also animals that live in Antarctica, there are Adelie penguin, Chinstrap penguin, Leopard Seals, Elephant seals, Snow petrels, king penguin, Emperor penguin, Killer whales (Orca), Wandering Albatross, Blue whale, and more.




Hottest place on earth was named Death Valley, Death Valley is also known as Hottest, Driest, and Lowest National Park. 
- In this below-sea level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death Valley a Land of Extremes. Yet, Each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Lush oases harbor tiny fish and refuge for wildlife and humans. Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life survives in Death Valley.There are also animals that leave in the hottest place on earth and they are called, dessert bighorn sheep, Dessert cottontail, Roadrunner, Mojave fringe toed lizard, and kit Fox.The hottest temperature in Death valley is; In fact, the all-time hottest temperature ever measured on Earth came on July 10, 1913, when Death Valley hit a sizzling 134 Fahrenheit (56.7 degrees C)

Haiku is a short form of Japanese poetry

Haiku's Definition- Haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.

Haiku has 3 lines of 5 syllables at the first line and 7 syllable at the second line and at the last one it has 5 syllables to the last one.

I wonder who invented the basketball?

The basketball inventor is James Naismith. James Naismith is Canadian American Physical Educator, Physician, Chaplain, Sports Coach, and Innovator. He invented the game of basketball at age 30 in 1891. He wrote the original basketball book and founded the University of Kansas Basketball program. Naismith lived to see Basketball adopted as an Olympic demonstration sport in 1904 and as official event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, as well as the birth of national Invitation Tournament (1938) and the NCAA Tournament (1939).
